Join a community of therapists who share a strong interest and commitment to providing care for BIPOC & marginalized folks. Patients shouldn't have to pay their provider to explain what it's like not to have a background of privilege. In order to join FoC, therapists must agree to our statement of values, including having completed culturally-relevant education in the last 24 months, and significant exposure to and interest in working with BIPOC and marginalized groups. We hope that by making the therapist participation process selective, we can offer patients a tailored experience, where they feel seen and understood.

Marginalized communities often have a disproportionately difficult time accessing care due to availability and affordability. Although our primary aim is to address availability and distribution of therapists, we also encourage therapist members to provide accessible, reduced-fee care for those who need it most. Although not a requirement at this stage, we aim to fill therapists’ schedules, reduce no-shows and streamline administration so that they may be able to offer a greater number of reduced cost sessions for marginalized communities in the near future.

Despite the proliferation of technology, finding a therapist online today still looks like Googling “best therapist near me”. Dedicated to usability and simplicity, we use technology and design to make the therapy-seeking process faster and more intuitive for patients, while helping qualified therapists get found more often. Our goal is to reduce emotional labour for patients and marketing effort for therapists, while facilitating better connections.
