I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC # 14331), art therapist and a clinical supervisor/consultant, specializing in working with queer and BIPOC clients and professionals. My practice centers healing based on anti-oppressive and decolonizing values, with a focus on supporting BIPOC, trans, queer, disabled, neurodivergent and mentally ill communities. My role is to create a space for all facets of your experiences and identities through talking, playing, and making art.
Depending on your previous experience of counselling, you might my approach “unconventional” at times. Because my core values are based on dismantling oppressive systems and practices, I very rarely prescribe “tools and strategies” unless clients explicitly ask me for them. At the beginning of our work together, you can expect me to ask you in-depth questions about your current place in life, values, historical and developmental experiences based on your intersecting identities (ie. race, gender, sexuality, disabilities etc.). This helps me understand your world and how I can support your growth, your way. Many clients have expressed to me in the past that sometimes they can experience discomfort and vulnerability from having to reflect and name feelings and certain inner truths. What I often tell clients is that this is normal and are valuable part of the healing process
